Intro to Accounting: Reflective Journal-Fresh Mart

In this Fresh Mart Project, I have applied several of accounting rules and theories, which I learnt in the past accounting classes. This is the very first time that I involved in a real business environment. From the purchase until the preparation, and then all of accounting calculation, we have done them all by our own hand, of course, some helps from our lecturer and tutor. Without them, we could not have done this task. Fresh Mart Project let me have a great experience, although this time we get so much helps from tutor and lecturer, I hope we would have more chances to have this kind of task in the future.

1514 Business Communication- Reflective Journal

 In this Business Communication group assignment, we were given a research project to work on. Students were required to form groups of 4 students in order to complete this research. After detailed discussion with my team members, we finally decided to interview Mr. Lew.TC-the owner of the enterprise, Citichair Sdn.Bhd, which manufactures furniture parts.

   Before my group member and I start on this assignment, I expect that this assignment will be difficult and I afraid of everything cannot be done punctually. Since I know well about my group members for this Business Communication group assignment so I expect it will be quite easy when we communicate to each other. Before embarking on this assignment, I was a little nervous because as a student, this is my very first time to interview a company’s director. I did not know how the interviewee would react to our questions and whether we would be entertained by the interviewee.

  Some of my expectations do fulfill but some are not. After this group assignment, I found that this assignment was not that difficult as my expectation before I began to do on it. It is because since I am a team leader, I had to separate the parts to each member before October, and ordered them to pass back to me two days before the deadline. Thus, everything had done on time and submits it before the due date. Next, we had done our interview which needed in the group assignment. The interview is not that hard and formal way as my expectation in the beginning. This is because we were warmly welcomed by the interviewee and his employees and our interviewee is full of humor and warmhearted person. It makes the interview process more like friend chatting instead of a rigorous interview. Through this interview, we took a lot of information from our interviewee.

  The main issue that my group mates and I faced problem with going to the location of the premise to be situated at an inconvenient area yet I am the one who drove my group there, was unfamiliar with that area. This issue made it difficult for us to go for the interview and so on because an unfamiliar area, we had almost lost. The solution that we found to overcome the problem was asking direction from the officer and using navigation apps. Fortunately, we also headed to the location earlier so that we could meet for the interviews earlier; at least, we didn’t be late.

After completing this assignment, I personally feel that this is the best and most organized group assignment that I have done so far in this semester and I learnt many things. First of all, I realized how important collaboration of team work is. Without it, it is quite impossible to complete this report individually. Besides that, I learnt that punctuality is essential. When meeting with others, it is vital that I am on time as people will remark good impressions. Last but not the least, I truly thank my group mates, give me the opportunity to lead them and they are cooperative, team-spirited and helpful.
